Staff at Microtest are celebrating this week after scooping two major prizes at this year’s Cornwall Business Awards. The Bodmin-based software company was named Best Family Business and also won the category of Business Innovation of the Year.
This is the most high-profile business awards scheme in Cornwall and Microtest were presented with their trophies at a glittering ceremony at St Mellion International attended by 350 business leaders from across the county. England rugby hero, Matt Dawson MBE, was guest speaker at the event.
The Best Family Business Award recognises the achievements of the Netherton family in leading Microtest over the last 30 years. It highlights the important role that family values play in the personal service that the company provides to its customers and the way that it manages its teams. The Business Innovation Award marked the outstanding success of Microtest’s Guru product, which is the most advanced patient record sharing system in the UK and has been a key driver of the company’s growth in recent years.
Chris Netherton, MD of Microtest, commented:
“We are thrilled to receive these awards and delighted on behalf of all the staff who work with us. From its base in Cornwall, Microtest has now grown to a significant company that employs over 100 people and has gained industry recognition across the UK as a leading innovator and pioneer in clinical software. With my two sons, Tristan and ‘Stuff’, helping to lead the business, we hope that we can stay at the forefront of our industry for many years to come.”
The company continues to grow and has recently opened a new development centre at Plymouth Science Park. It has also added further innovative products to its portfolio, including the launch of Planned Care, which enables a patient’s individual care plan to be shared across organisations so that they can deliver more effective, integrated care.
“At Microtest, we are constantly innovating and looking for ways to enhance the clinical software systems used by our GPs.”
Chris Netherton added:
“At Microtest, we are constantly innovating and looking for ways to enhance the clinical software systems used by our GPs. It is an incredibly fast-moving and demanding business, but we have built a great team that is very responsive to our customers’ needs and sets itself very high standards. All of our software is developed in close collaboration with clinicians, so that we can ensure that it operates seamlessly and is matched precisely to their requirements.
“Our goal is to provide our medical professionals with the systems they need to in order to work effectively and deliver the very best standards of patient care. We are also doing all that we can to support collaborative working within healthcare. It is an exciting and rewarding field to work in. We are determined to keep improving our services – and these two awards will help inspire us to go on to even greater things!”
