Microtest surgeries are topping the league tables on customer satisfaction in Cornwall and Plymouth, according to research published on the NHS Choices website. These results are based on the findings from the GP Patient Survey, which is sent out twice a year to around 1.36 million adults who are registered with a GP in England. Respondents are asked whether they would ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ recommend their practice to someone who had just moved into the area.
The results of the GP Patient Survey for each GP practice are weighted to adjust the data to account for potential differences between the demographic profile of all eligible patients in a practice and the patients who actually complete a questionnaire.
In response to questioning on whether they would be likely to recommend their surgery to someone new to the area, an average of 85.4% patients at surgeries using the Microtest clinical system in Cornwall said that they would, whilst 81.27% agreed in Plymouth.
This is higher than the average for both Cornwall and Plymouth.
Microtest surgeries also scooped the highest results of any surgeries in the county overall in Cornwall, with the top two results achieved by Microtest surgeries Carnon Downs Surgery and Quay Lane Surgery. At Carnon Downs Surgery, 98.4% of patients said they would recommend the surgery to a newcomer, whereas at Quay Lane Surgery, 97.6% said they would.
Overall, Microtest surgeries dominated the top results, accounting for more than half of the ‘Top 20’ performers in Cornwall. Other surgeries with exceptional results and positions within the ‘Top Twenty’ include Pensilva Health Centre, Probus Surgery, Praze Surgery, Carnon Downs Branch Surgery, St Agnes Surgery, Meneage Street Surgery and Lostwithiel Medical Practice.
Meanwhile, in Plymouth, Microtest practices again out-perform the local average.
At Yealm Medical Centre 97.8% of patients would recommend the practice to a person new to the area , followed by Wembury Surgery at 93.4%.
Chris Netherton, MD of Microtest said: ‘Bad news always seems to grab the headlines but here is a massive piece of good news that so far hasn’t been reported. We are thrilled to see that the surgeries using our clinical system are working so hard to achieve such an exceptional vote of confidence from their patients and in doing so, they are outperforming other surgeries in Cornwall and Plymouth in terms of patients’ likelihood to recommend. We would like to congratulate our practices on their outstanding achievement and hope that their clinical system is helping them to deliver such an outstanding service to their patients.”
