Microtest Apollo Interface

You may download the latest release of the Microtest Apollo Interface from this webpage. This application works alongside the Apollo Reporting software (SQL Suite and QoF Assessor) and allows Apollo restricted access to your clinical database.

April 2011 Changes

Microtest have made some performance enhancements to the server-side extract routine that is used by Apollo – these enhancements are automatically installed on your system by the Microtest April Update CD.

Additionally, the Microtest Apollo implementation will now return a ‘dummy’ Read code if data is present in a Read coded field which is not a valid code. The most common example of this is where a textual encounter field has been changed by the user to a Read code field, and the historical data remains in the field. Previously this would have caused a problem where an invalid Read code would have been presented, with a blank rubric/readterm. In this situation Apollo will now see a Read code of "XXXXX" alongside the rubric/readterm "?Unknown Read code", which effectively removes this codes from their reports so that they don’t appear as errors.

You must be running the Summer Refresh (version 10.04.0011) and have installed the April Update CD on your fileserver if you intend to use the Apollo Reporting products against a Microtest system.

To ensure you are running the current version of software please follow the steps outlined below. Note that the Microtest Apollo Interface only needs to be installed on the single workstation that runs the Apollo reports.

  1. On the designated Apollo workstation, click the start button, then select “Run…” to display the “Run” dialog box. Type “control” so that the dialog looks like this:

  2. Click “OK” to display the Windows Control panel.
  3. Double-click “Add or Remove Programs” to display a window listing all the software installed on this workstation.
  4. Scroll down through the list until you find “Microtest Apollo Extract SDK”, and then click on Support Information. Ensure that the Version number shown is 10.04.0002 or greater
Note – If “Microtest Apollo Extract SDK” is not listed at all, jump to step 8 in order to install it.
  5. If the version information is already 10.04.0006 or greater, this means that the workstation is already running the latest version of the Apollo software, so you may close all Windows and skip to the What To Do Next section. If any other version is shown, you need to continue to follow these instructions in order to perform the upgrade.
  6. Click the “Close” button on the above dialog to return to the “Add or Remove Programs” list, and then click the “Change/Remove” button on the right. After a few seconds, the “Microtest Apollo Extract SDK – InstallShield Wizard” dialog will appear. Click the “Remove” option so that it is selected (as shown below), then click “Next >”

  7. You will now be asked to confirm you want to remove this application – click “Yes”. The software will now be removed, and when the process is complete, you’ll see a dialog containing the message “InstallShield Wizard has finished uninstalling Microtest Apollo Extract SDK.”. Click the “Finish” button to close this dialog.
  8. Close the “Add or Remove Programs” dialog by clicking the “X” button in the top right-hand corner.
  9. Click here to start installing the new version of the Microtest Apollo software. When asked to run or save the file, choose “Run”. If you see a "Security Warning" dialog which states that the publisher could not be verified, click the "Run" button here as well. After a few seconds, this dialog appears:

    Click “Next >” to continue.
  10. Accept the license agreement as prompted, then click “Next >” again.
  11. On the next dialog box, click “Install” to start the installation process – it should take less than a minute. When it has finished, you’ll see a message stating that “The InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed Microtest Apollo SDK.”. Click “Finish”.
  12. In order to check the correct version has installed, repeat steps 1-5 – the version information should now be shown as 10.04.0002 or greater.

If this is not the case, repeat these instructions from step 6, in order to attempt the upgrade again. In case of repeated failure, please contact the Microtest Service Desk on 0845 345 1608.

What To Do Next

You are now ready to install the Apollo QOF Assessor Validation Report Generation software. Please visit

www.apollo-medical.com/QOF and follow the installation instructions. The Apollo software should be version 2.3.4.2 or above. Note that although the Apollo website may specific Microtest Practice Manager 2 - the Apollo software is actually installed for both PM2 and Evolution. Note that if the Apollo software is already installed, you just need to either run QoF Wizard, which will update the prelim report, or run SQL Suite and update your QoF Repository files. You do not need to re-install if it is already installed.
